"During my tenure at DIRECTV, Tomo was one of a select few who managed to produce consistently good work under the most difficult of circumstances. The nature of the environment required patience, talent and a high degree of professional maturity that Tomo demonstrated on an everyday basis."
Lou Rios , Senior Manager, e-business , DIRECTV

"Tomo is passionate and dedicated to work. I could always count on her to create something great within tight time restraints. Great illustrative skills, composition and typography."
Stefan Kjartansson , Creative Director , CNN.com

"Tomo is an incredibly creative person who has the rare combination of design instinct and pro-active business sense. She continually came up with designs that fit exactly the branding ideas that were sought and managed to give them a fresh look. In addition, she is an incredibly nice person and a lot of fun to work with."
David Moses , Operations Manager - CNN Internet Technologies

"I've known Tomo for several years now and we hired her to design a website for a bag company that I was partners in. From the beginning, she dove head first into the project not only coming up with website concepts and architecture ideas, but also re-photographing all of our product to enhance the design of the site. Tomo is super reliable, creative, detail oriented and full of useful insights into what will work and what won't if you let her give you feedback. She's also very good at just executing someone else's vision. I would definitely hire her again!"

Profile: Tomo Mori
TOMOTION NEVER STOP!

Tomo was born in Shijonawate, the countryside of Osaka, Japan – played all day in nature, through rice fields, along with her two sisters. Due to her father’s business, the Mori family moved to Tokyo — where they spent most of late 70's and 80's surrounded by the middle of Japan's highest economical boom.

At fourteen, Tomo decided to pursue the study of art and applied for a specialized school in this field. The following year, she was accepted by Tokyo’s Metropolitan High School for Music and Fine Arts. She studied under various famous artists and professors, members of the elite alumni.

At sixteen, with the help of a non-profit organization (YFU), she became an exchange student on her way to Kerman, California to study English and American culture. After an exciting, yet challenging 12 months, she returned to Japan to submit her painting at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum in Ueno. To her delight, her first time large scale painting (6' x 4.5') "Scream" was accepted and exhibited at the museum in following year.

In 1991, she opted to make her next destination Atlanta, GA. There she studied at the Atlanta College of Art. She began the program as Fine Arts major. in later years, grew strong interest in graphic design, video and multimedia production.

In August 1995, before most people had email address, Tomo started designing websites for CNN's new team at the pioneering stage of news broadcast for the Web. There she was part of and experienced the burgeoning era of innovation in a new media with a group of creative and dedicated people – creators of infrastructure for today’s top news site: CNN.com.

In 2000, a well earned promotion saw Tomo transferred to NYC with the title of Art Director of CNNfn.com where she developed a creative department for the site which she nurtured for the next 7 years, seeing it migrated with Time Inc. Publications; Money, Fortune, Business 2.0. and FSB, to what is now CNN/Money.com.

After 11 years designing for news/editorial websites, decided to take new challenges on designing websites for consumer marketing and direct sales with more entertainment angles at DIRECTV.com.

She enjoys collaborating with 'truely NYC' creators, such as Rafael Jimenez (Republica Trading), Ani Mozian-Whitney (ANI Bags), Max de Cherchi Photographer, Al Johnson Art and Harlem Biennale.

By covering international news for many years and influenced by her father's personal mission, her on-going passion is to use her skills and free time to assist organizations who supports children in poverty, such as the UgandaFund.org website.

Tomo's philosophy of "Think Simple + Visualize with Passion + Execute with Patience" applies to any projects of any sizes.
